According to preliminary quotes given, each CNG mobile refuelling pump will cost at least USD 400,000, which could be financed by YPFB, said EEC-GNV director Hernán Vega. “We are working with YPFB and the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energy to set mobile CNG supply systems in different parts of La Paz”, the official revealed yesterday.
Vega added -as published by ABI news agency- that the initiative could be extended to the city of El Alto and other interior’s departments. “We have to see how it works in La Paz. It is a trial phase,” he explained.
In turn, he reported that 4,000 vehicles, including both public and private units, were converted to CNG in January. The goal is to reach 34,080 conversions to natural gas this year, after 2012 success, when over 30,000 were switched, representing substantial savings to the Government.
