“It’s quite a transformation because we are talking about 40 or 50 years in transportation that are completely changing in our city. With the start of this operation the whole culture is being transformed, but with the same agents, i.e. transporters,” said Medellin Mayor Aníbal Gaviria Correa at the launch ceremony of the new feeder transport system.
In this sense, the educational trips have been initiated for the community to get used to the buses operation. The first journeys with special guests will be held both in the 3 and 6 axes until Friday, October 25, to consequently start commercial operation of the new integrated route on Monday, October 28.
Currently, Metroplús totals 56,000 trips per day, each of them by pedestrian access. With this new feeder routes integrated, the objective is to reach 160,000 passengers overall.
