The association confirmed the objective of 350,000 NGVs operating around the country by 2015. CPGNV general manager Jorge Juárez said Lima and Callao gather most of the converted vehicles, due to the large number of natural gas fuelling stations in the area.
“There is still a extensive market to meet, so we expect that this year 35 to 40 new CNG fuellins stations will be opened”, Juárez told to Andina news agency.
At the same time, the Peruvian government also issued a positive evaluation regarding NGV industry. “The CNG business made possible the creation of 7,000 jobs in this activity and USD 1.900 million in savings and benefits for 100,000 users of natural gas vehicles”, the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) reported.
Recently, President Alan García led the official ceremony in which the car number 100,000 converted to CNG was delivered. The leader encouraged the widespread use of this fuel during the event, which was held in the courtyard of the government house.
