Regarding the projects to open up access to natural gas for vehicles throughout the country, on June 28 the company Grifos Espinoza S.A. (GESA Group) will open the first CNG refuelling station in the city of Ica, which will be supplied by the GESA Group’s compression plant located in Lima. Besides that, a new filling facility is under construction in the province of Huaura, which will start operations in late July.
Currently, there are 156 CNG retail stations in Peru, whereas there are 34 under construction.
By May 31, 2011, the number of vehicles converted to natural gas amounted to 112.484 units. This mark shows that about 1,900 vehicles are switched to CNG monthly on average.
