Development and testing of this new car is a Swedish project, implemented by Subaru Nordic AB in collaboration with Italian BRC. The models being considered for conversion are the Subaru Legacy and Subaru Outback in combination with the continuously variable Lineartronic automatic transmission.
“Trollhättan is a good location. There are key skills and the logistics required to implement major projects within the Swedish automotive industry,” said Torbjörn Lillrud, Subaru Nordic’s managing director.
Besides distribution of cars on the local market, the Helsingborg-based automaker exports vehicles and spare parts for Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. “As the production of the Subaru Boxer CNG for all six markets will take place in Sweden, this will mean more jobs as well as increased export revenues,” added Lillrud.
