According to the executive, its company used different combined gas-diesel engines, but then came to the conclusion that it is more profitable to use Kamaz trucks powered with serial gas engines running on pure methane, as their operation enables to save much on the cost of cargo transportation.
Methane is the only type of motor fuel the price of which has been controlled by law since 1993 in Russia and costs much less than diesel fuel. In addition, Kamaz gas engines are subject to three times less wear than diesel ones before requiring an overhaul.
It is worth mentioning that taking into account these and other advantages, the management of Sibir also decided to purchase another batch of Kamaz heavy-duty compressed natural gas-powered trucks intended for urban operation in the near future.
