Paci reported that Navistar Mexico was under negotiations with CNG distributors to enhance refueling infrastructure, which would result in an increased demand for natural gas powered vehicles. In this sense, he stated that one of the key issues to push the project ahead is connected with the support that state and federal governments could provide, e.g. through tax incentives for both manufacturers and fleet operators to adopt NGV technology.
From the same perspective and according to a report published by Auto Motores, Merckel Reyes, director of MAN Bus & Trucks Mexico and Gustavo García González, operational director of Kenworth Mexico also thought the use of CNG throughout the country needs official stimulation to make the whole plan possible, considering that OEMs already have the technological developments necessary to face the challenge.
