According to sources, Honda has been working on the development of the CNG variant by making a few adjustments in the conventional petrol car: “The suspension of the car has been strengthened as the CNG tank will be housed in the boot of the car. Also, a few changes have been made to the engine of the car in line with the requirements of a CNG car.”
As published by Times of India, Honda has decided not to install the CNG kit and cylinder at its factory premises but at the dealer-end. The factory will only produce a special ‘CNG variant’ of the City. The price of the NGV is estimated at Rs. 50,000-60,000 (USD 900 – 1,000) more than the current model available.
The compressed natural gas powered sedan is planned to be unveiled in a short time, just when Indian festivities are about to begin. The festival season represents auto manufacturers’ peak sales for the complete year.
