FNGVC, including TECO/Peoples Gas, Nopetro, Trillium CNG, and JJ Taylor Companies, advocates incentives similar to other states, with programs offering grants and tax credits for the purchase of NGVs. “This is big news for job seekers in Florida. Our most conservative calculations show our initiative could produce hundreds of millions of dollars in new wages, with taxpayers reimbursed one hundred percent,” remarked Eric Criss, chair of FNGVC.
In addition, State Representative Lake Ray stated: “It is vital to Florida’s economic future that we have a conversation about transportation, freight mobility and logistics in the next legislative session. I believe that natural gas vehicles will be an important component of that discussion.”
It is worth mentioning that the Florida Natural Gas Association (FNGA) supports the recently established FNGVC, especially its goal of “increasing the use of this clean, efficient and domestic fuel” in the state, according to David Rogers, Executive Director of the FNGA.
