The natural gas station will serve RFTA’s new fleet of eco-friendly buses. The agency, which is in operation since 1983, estimates that about one-third of their public bus fleet will run on compressed natural gas by fall 2013.
In July 2012, RFTA was recognized by the White House as part of the Transportation Innovators’ “Champions of Change”; highlighting their construction of VelociRFTA, the first rural bus rapid transit system in the country. With CNG buses, the new system will connect five towns from Glenwood Springs to Aspen, Colorado.
“With over 20 years’ of CNG industry experience, our stations are built to exceed our customer’s expectations while delivering superior quality, reliability and dependability resulting in bottom-line savings,” added Koontz.
