The new CNG station is a big part of Monarch’s fueling strategy, allowing them to fuel their 28 Kenworth® T440 tractors at their Indianapolis location. The large three-compressor fast-fill station is capable of delivering more than 11 gallons of CNG per minute.
According to Dufour, the Indiana-based Monarch Beverage fleet consumes nearly 1 million gallons of diesel per year, and by shifting to compressed natural gas, they will be able to reduce fuel costs by 60% once the conversion is complete, which translates to a $2 to $3 million dollar savings in fuel per year.
Furthermore, there are plans to open the facility to public as they have a pad ready to accept a fourth compressor if demand is high enough – or other local fleets approach them regarding the possibility of fueling non Monarch fleets.
