San Franciso-based company announced that it has introduced its inaugural product: eCNG, an all‐inclusive, lightweight and easy‐to‐use package that stores compressed natural gas at 3600 psi. It can be filled at all approved filling stations, and then transported to a stranded vehicle to provide an emergency supply of CNG.
With the global market for light‐duty vehicles forecast to grow by 119% over the next 10 years, PSI Technologies foresees a need for a low-cost solution for running out of fuel. Using industry standard components (NGV‐2 and US DOT), the company has developed a product that is safe, practical and simple to use with only a brief period of training.
“Given the growth in the NGV market, there is a glaring need for a standardized fueling system for roadside assistance, one that is safe, yet does not require expensive and heavy components,” said Prescott Stone, President of PSI Technologies, LLC. “It is ideal for corporate fleets and municipalities that don’t want to have to call a tow truck every time one of its vehicles runs out of CNG.”
PSI Technologies’ first product carries .65 DGE or .74 GGE, which will accommodate the smaller NGVs. For heavy-duty vehicles, packages with greater capacities will be provided. Besides outright purchases, the company is developing lease options as well.
This company specializes in emergency storage and fueling systems for natural gas vehicles, but also foresees future products that will target the growing network of hydrogen fueled vehicles and systems.
