Mark Warawa, Member of Parliament for Langley, on behalf of Michelle Rempel, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced $90,000 in funding to the CSA Group for their project to build a field test site to certify high-pressure hydrogen and CNG components for the automotive industry. CSA is an internationally-accredited standards development, testing, and certification organization.
With this funding, CSA will be able to purchase and install the necessary testing equipment, as well as prepare the site for actual testing. CSA will use this facility to engage in destructive testing, including bonfire, gunfire penetration and drop impact testing of high-pressure CNG and hydrogen fuel cell containers, as well as complete vehicle fuel systems. The site will enable CSA to certify that their clients’ products meet national and international standards.
“Our Government is proud to support the development and certification of low-emission fuel systems, which will offer cleaner transportation solutions. This investment will help stimulate the economy and strengthen the West’s reputation in the clean energy industry,” said Warawa.
“Our facility in Langley specializes in testing and certification for alternative fuel source vehicles and components. We are proud to encourage the adoption of new technologies that contribute to a more sustainable world. We are grateful for the support of the Western Economic Diversification Fund that will allow us to continue to promote innovation and more sustainable products,” added Nashir Jiwani, CSA Group Regional Vice President, Canada.
