Germany: VW Passat TSI EcoFuel receives ADAC's ‘2012 Yellow Angel’ award
The CNG-powered model won in the ‘Car of the future’ category, after a jury of experts evaluated vehicles currently being sold on the German market based on the criteria of everyday practicality, economy, environmental compatibility and safety. They found that the Passat TSI EcoFuel continues to be the benchmark in the field of NGVs.
The prize awarded by the German and European largest automobile club recognizes Volkswagen car’s low-emission compressed natural gas engine and the variety of systems available for the driver assistance.
The Passat 1.4 TSI Ecofuel features a 150-hp engine with a seven-speed gearbox. In addition, it can run on CNG or gasoline with virtually no awareness of the change. With the 21-kilo gas tank, the car can run about 400 kilometers. In turn, with a tank of 31 liters it can travel other 400 kilometers in the gasoline mode.
It is worth adding that the German automaker received the ADAC’s
‘2011 Yellow Angel’ for its CNG Touran 1.4 TSI Ecofuel in the categories ‘Innovation & Environment’ and ‘Future’.
