Gascop plans to expand natural gas fueling service to more Piura’s provinces
The firm already has two CNG stations in Peru, one in Piura and another in Chiclayo. At the same time, it is building two mega facilities in both cities, which will be operational in March or April, according to Gascop general manager Edgar Sánchez Dávila. From now on, they are looking forward to extend their presence in both markets using a different methodology.
"The idea is to end this year with a second CNG station in both Piura and Chiclayo. However, this project is meant to be carried out by some other companies interested," the executive explained. He said it is expected that these initiatives will be replicated in other Piura’s provinces, such as Sullana, Talara and maybe Paita.
Gascop, who is provided with compressed natural gas from its own plant located in Talara and from where the fuel is transport to the stations, is now negotiating with several companies, including large corporations, that operate refueling stations. "In a couple of months, we will have arranged where the new stations in Piura and Chiclayo will be finally installed", revealed the businessman, as published by
Gestión newspaper.
Regarding the
mega-stations the company is currently constructing in both cities, they will have eight pumps and three high-speed compressors, which will be ready to service heavy-duty vehicles. While the fueling points already in operation in these cities sell 5,000 m3 of natural gas daily, it is likely that the new high-capacity stations will be able to supply 20,000 m3," Edgar Sánchez Dávila estimated.
