Toyota Thailand introduces bi-fuel pickup
The multinational automaker has presented the Hilux Vigo Champ that can run on either petrol or compressed natural gas. This is the second model after the Corolla Altis to get a factory-approved conversion.
The new CNG variant of Hilux features a 160hp 2.7-litre four-cylinder motor and 5-speed manual gearbox, whose powertrain components have been adapted to take two kinds of fuels. The CNG cylinder has been installed in a protective compartment placed in the cargo bed, The Bangkok Post reported.
Toyota Motors Thai offers two different bodyworks to opt for: Standard Cab priced at 622,000 baht (over USD 19,000) and Smart Cab at 724,000 baht (about USD 22,700).
The Hilux Vigo was selected as the second model for Toyota’s ‘Advanced CNG’ project.
