The mayor stressed that the City Government is seeking to get an enhanced public transport system, meeting the highest standards possible in order to reduce emissions released to the atmosphere, because "we are at risk," if we do not avoid global warming. Ebrard Casaubon said it was determined that Poniente highway will allow free circulation for the public transport, so that the Eco-bus Line 2 will not pay any toll.

Meanwhile, Arturo González Vega, who is the head of the General Directorate of the city government-owned public transport RTP, described this new transportation route proposed as a defined circuit, which means that the service will be constantly operative with only strategic stops.

According to him, this is a system that promotes sustainable mobility due to its environmentally friendly technology, which contributes to an annual reduction of 3,430 tons of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) in average. He said the new buses will reduce, among other gases, exhaust fumes by 100 percent and carbon monoxide up to 99.98 percent.

The NGVs will run on both regular and express services and, as mentioned, are expected to transport an amount of passenger similar to the figure achieved by Line 1 service, which covers Balderas-Santa Fe route.
