The Ministry of Industry and Commerce’s Non-Conventional Energy Directorate celebrated the milestone yesterday, in a ceremony held in LOVADOM Autogas premises in Santo Domingo. The owner of the CNG center said that, since the company began started operations in February 2010 up to now, 2,500 cars have been switched to run on methane, most of which have been fitted with fifth generation technology equipments.

Representatives of Sibir Industrial and Construction Concern have arrived at the truck manufacturer’s facilities to discuss the issues of the companies’ further cooperation, purchasing, operation and service of Kamaz CNG vehicles, as well as to share their positive experience of NGVs in Novosibirsk Oblast. In addition, a delegation of journalists from Ukraine, who were interested in Kamaz green products, visited the company’s plant to watch the main assembly line and a cab assembly conveyor.

The Bolivian Executing Agency for NGVs (EEC-GNV) and representatives of public and private organizations operational in that city, which is located in the department of Santa Cruz, signed an inter-institutional agreement to support the program. Throughout the document, those involved agreed to meet 6,000 application forms for the conversion to compressed natural gas. The requests will be gradually delivered to the agency manager that will be sent to the city of Camiri, within two months from May 2 to July 2, 2012.

Surtigás, Promigás, Gases del Caribe, Ecopetrol and Chevron formed a strategic alliance along with CNG workshops and refueling stations and re-launched a campaign known as "El Bono del Ahorro" (The Savings Voucher). The initiative, for which 14.000 million Colombian pesos (nearly USD 8 million) will be allocated by the participating companies, will make possible the award of vouchers to the Caribbean Coast users who choose to turn to natural gas system.

The organization announced today that the agreement reached with the Provincial Municipality has been extended for five years more. As a result, it will allow Cofide to finance the purchase of buses for the upcoming Integrated Transport System (SIT), its conversion to CNG system, the implementation of a mobile natural gas pipeline system and refueling stations.

All these actions carried out by the Argentine Chamber for Gas Equipment Producers (CAPEC) aim to stimulate the market in connection with kit installations. "Through the promotion of CNG use, campaigns and funding, 17,000 vehicles per month -on average- could be switched to natural gas. This figure would benefit not only to equipment producers but to the entire industry," the association’s chairman told Prensa Vehicular.

The energy company E-CL’s initiative includes the construction of a refueling station in the city of Tocopilla and the allocation of funding for the conversion of taxis in the area. "The scheme will be a real contribution to the community, since the project will lower emissions," the firm officially stated through its latest Annual Report.

The government plans to import CNG equipment from the European country to help facilitate the nation's energy initiative to see more vehicles run on natural gas. "We want national industries to be able to mass-produce kits within the span of six months, so that all demands for the technology can be fulfilled nationally," said Industry Minister M.S. Hidayat.
