Kamaz natural gas trucks enter Ukrainian market
The Russian automaker has signed an agreement with Donetsk-based metals processor TPK Ukrsplav to supply KAMAZ-65116-30 bottle-gas driven prime movers running on compressed natural gas. The first batch of 10 vehicles was already delivered to Ukraine on November 17th.
According to the contract, the Ukrainian company will receive 50 haulage trucks, all equipped with an automatic centralized lubrication system as per customer’s request. The total amount of the transaction made more than 120 million rubles (USD 4 million).
KAMAZ-65116-30 vehicles were made by a distributor of OJSC KAMAZ, OOO RariTEK, specializing in mounting of gas-cylinder equipment on KAMAZ chassis. This is the largest batch of natural gas vehicles manufactured, and it was exported immediately.
It should be added that in June Ukrsplav made an experiment buying one CNG-powered KAMAZ vehicle which during operation demonstrated obvious advantages of the use of natural gas over other fuels. According to the company’s representatives, under peak load conditions the NGV can save about USD 300 or 9,000 rubles a day in comparison with a diesel engine car.
