Bolivia will have a natural gas refueling station network all over its main road
The state-owned oil company (YPFB Corporation) plans to install five CNG filling points this year, in order to guarantee the fuel to vehicles plying across country’s major corridor. YPFB president Carlos Villegas made the announcement, and the company he represents currently owns 36 fuelling stations across the nation.
"The facilities will be located at the most important intermediate cities, so that NGVs will be able to find a refueling station in the intermediate villages all through the backbone roads. We will finish building five CNG stations and we will start installing other ten," Villegas told the local newspaper
Cambio. He added that the pumps will be located at strategic points such as Patacamaya –linking La Paz-Oruro-, and will provide confidence to drivers who want to cover long distances without worrying about running out of fuel.
The project, which includes the extension of the supply service to other regions of Bolivia, will entail an investment of USD 22 million.
At the same time, the NGV Conversion Program continues being carried out. During 2011 and in just eight months, the country managed to convert
16,000 vehicles to CNG system.
