According to the program released a few days ago by the city government, 2,500 natural gas buses will be deployed -half of the entire fleet- by the end of the 12th Five-Year Plan, with about 10 filling stations. In addition, there will be 3,500 dual-fueled taxis (petrol and CNG), accounting for 70% of the total, with 15 to 20 facilities providing the two fuels. Finally, about 500 container trucks will run on natural gas, 40% of Ningbo Port fleet, with 3 to 4 outlets providing LNG.

During the 82nd edition of this event to take place from 8-18 March 2012 at the Palexpo-Geneva, gazmobile –the association that promotes the use of NGVs in Switzerland- will present the latest generation of natural gas versions from automakers Fiat, Mercedes, Opel and Volkswagen. The public will also be able to discover the VW Scirocco R-Cup, a motor racing car fueled entirely with biomethane whose CO2 emissions are reduced by 80%.

Besides supplying energy services, Stadtwerke Augsburg is a bus operator and has recently received 10 low-floor vehicles. Since 2010, it is the only Germany’s company in a large city that runs a bus fleet fueled by CNG. Moreover, it offers biomethane at several fueling stations and has reduced CO2 emissions and greenhouse gases by 90%, compared to gasoline.

Compañía Argentina de Automóviles, a firm of ArqBravo Group, unveiled its plans to manufacture OEM CNG-powered cars that, in a first stage, will be used as taxis. The Argentine Popular Automobile (A!PA) will feature credit facilities, factory warranty, a drive range of 400 kilometers and cylinders that will not occupy space in the vehicle’s trunk. It will have a modern design, with a spacious interior, and the option of running on 100% natural gas or combined with gasoline.

At the beginning of its operations, the public transportation system is carrying 3,000 passengers more than the expected figure, and reached 90 percent of its capacity. The daily savings for passengers is the cost of one or two bus fares, i.e. up to 3,000 pesos (USD 1,70), reported local newspaper El Colombiano.

The new 12-meters long Irisbus Citelis, running from late January, were added to other six buses of this model, already operational in AIM Mobilità’s fleet since December 2010. The three CNG-powered vehicles will be used mainly in urban lines.

Since January 30, the multinational beverage corporation put into operation these Iveco Stralis running on biogas instead of diesel. The presentation ceremony was held at the company’s facilities in the city of Dongen and was attended by the Minister of Infrastructure and Environment, Melanie Schultz van Haegen.

HAK has recently put into operation an Iveco Stralis 330 hp powered by liquefied biomethane, which is produced from fermentation residues and vegetable waste. By running on biomethane, a CO2 reduction of up to 80% is possible to be achieved. Such trucks are also five times quieter than conventional diesel trucks.
