German prestigious prize for VW Touran Ecofuel
The vehicle was honoured with the “Yellow Angel 2011” award from the ADAC -Germany's and Europe's largest automobile club-, in the categories “Innovation & Environment” and “Future”. The German automaker had been also acknowledged with ADAC’s award in 2008, for its Golf TSI with 7-speed DSG.
The Volkswagen Touran 1.4 TSI Ecofuel and Dynamic Light Assist received the prizes after a jury of experts from the ADAC executive board and the presidents of VDA, VDIK and ZDK agreed regarding the remarkable achievement of engineering that the masked main beam headlight system represents.
While an integrated camera fitted behind the windscreen with the main beam modules of the headlights continuously active were key points for the “Innovation & Environment” prize, the recognition in the “Future” category intended to honour the highest state of development in the areas of suitability for daily use, efficiency, environmental compatibility and safety of the CNG Touran.
This prize is already the second award of this kind for the compact family van from Wolfsburg. In 2010, the Touran EcoFuel was named the most economically friendly seven-seater in the VCD (Verkehrsclub Deutschland or German Vehicle Association) list of environmentally friendly cars.
