Italy: Vicenza’s bus operator introduces three natural gas vehicles
The new 12-meters long Irisbus Citelis, running from late January, were added to other six buses of this model, already operational in AIM Mobilità’s fleet since December 2010. The three CNG-powered vehicles will be used mainly in urban lines.
With this acquisition, the company providing public transportation in the city of Vicenza, in north-eastern Italy, reaches 50 natural gas buses. Like their predecessors, the new vehicles are air-conditioned and their low emissions meet stringent European standards.
In turn, AIM Mobilità plans to launch two new Italy-manufactured CNG buses. In this case, the vehicles are eight-meters long and will be operational from March, after the completion of the trial period and registration.
Vicenza’s company has also implemented improvements to the bus stops. Among them, it has installed 'Loges' system, intended for passengers with impaired vision.
