This initiative is part of the launch of a program to improve mobility and air quality in Belo Horizonte, beginning with vehicles for the distribution service.

Trials also include the involvement of the city’s transport operator BHTrans, which formalized the cooperation agreement signed in June, gas supplier Gasmig, the state’s Freight Transport Union Fetcemg/Setcemg and the Federal University of Minas Gerais.

It is worth to mention that CNG consumption in this Brazilian state increased by 7.4% between January and May of 2012, compared with the first four months of last year, according to local newspaper O Norte. One reason of natural gas boost in the region relates to the actions undertaken by Gasmig, which is encouraging CNG conversions at competitive rates, with increased workshops and fueling stations.
