Washington-based NGV conversion company has secured a $5 million from Union Bay Capital, a Seattle investment fund. This funding will allow World CNG to expand into Chicago and Las Vegas, open a distribution center in the Southwest and pursue innovations that will make natural gas conversion more affordable.

Last Friday President Obama reiterated his commitment to a sustained, all-of-the-above energy strategy and urged Congress to take up common-sense proposals that will further reduce dependence on oil, better protect consumers from spikes in gas prices, and reduce pollution. He called for an Energy Security Trust, a proposal that sets aside $2 billion over 10 years and that will support research into a range of cost-effective technologies – like advanced vehicles that run on electricity, homegrown biofuels, fuel cells, and domestically produced natural gas.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Frederick W. Smith said he expects between 5 and 30 percent of U.S. long-distance trucking to be fueled by CNG or LNG over 10 years, as the cost of the trucks declines and fueling stations become more common. "We have so much gas," he said, "it would be foolish and at the end of the day penny-wise and pound-foolish not to export."

The NGV product distribution partnership is with National Energy Equipment (NEE), Canada’s largest energy equipment distributor, which will be able to offer the complete line of Landi Renzo USA CARB and EPA certified CNG systems on various vehicle platforms. The relationship between NEE and Landi Renzo extends back to 2009, when NEE became the official distributor in Canada for Landi Renzo S.p.A.

The subsidiary of Spartan Motors, Inc. this week announced a partnership with LandiRenzo to offer compressed natural gas retrofits on Isuzu NPR-HD Gas vehicles. At the same time, the first-mentioned company also revealed the formation of a preferred installer agreement with BAF Technologies, while both organizations are presenting a Ford converted vehicle at the 2013 NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, Ind., March 6-8.

As a Ford Motor Company Qualified Vehicle Modifier (QVM), the subsidiary of Landi Renzo SpA recently announced that its CNG bi-fuel system for the Ford Super Duty trucks with the 6.8L engine will be soon available as part of the company’s lineup of natural gas vehicles.

Increasing clean mobility options throughout the state, the Commission approved $17,223,593 for a wide range of projects, including four that promote the use of CNG and biomethane in transportation. "These awards are helping to support the expansion of alternative fuels and zero-emission vehicles. The funded projects will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants to protect our environment and improve the health of all Californians," said Energy Commission Chair Robert B. Weisenmiller.

Yesterday, at the U.S. Capitol, in Washington, D.C., the President stated: “I propose we use some of our oil and gas revenues to fund an Energy Security Trust that will drive new research and technology to shift our cars and trucks off oil for good.” He also expressed that he wanted to work with the Congress to boost the research and technology “that helps natural gas burn even cleaner and protects our air and our water.”
