The fueling facility, located at the Fleet Services yard on Third Street, will serve the City’s growing fleet of natural gas vehicles, including four new refuse trucks. The $1.2 million project will save Beverly Hills $250,000 each year in estimated fuel costs, and pay back the investment in five to six years.

The convenience store chain held the ribbon-cutting ceremony last week at its facilities located in on Reuter Boulevard in Towanda. The firm’s second filling point, which is under construction in Sayre, is scheduled to open in early March. Two additional locations will be set up in Elmira, New York and Mansfield, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.

Phase One of the initiative –a first of its kind in the state since the discovery of the Marcellus Shale– will include filling stations in Bridgeport, Charleston and Jane Lew. The company also plans to build and operate a facility in Mt. Morris, Pa., as part of the initial phase. “Our plans for a Fueling Corridor respond to the emerging market demand for fast, convenient refueling of NGVs: our stations will offer convenient locations and enable drivers to refuel in about the same time it would take at a gasoline station,” said Scott White, president of IGS Energy CNG Services.

Both companies signed an agreement and will work together to identify Covanta Energy facilities on which to construct the filling stations. Each one will provide CNG for a minimum of 30 refuse trucks a day and depending on the location, will be accessible to the public for fueling. Covanta operates over 40 centers that convert everyday trash into renewable energy and also has an additional 13 solid waste transfer stations.

The first will be a time fill and fast fill station located on Waste Pro's property at 925 South Clyde Morris Boulevard, Daytona Beach. The second will be a fast fill station for the company's Palm Coast Division and will be constructed on its property at 400 S Bay Street, Bunnell.

The company has been awarded a 10-year contract by the City of El Paso, Texas, for the design, construction and operations of the facilities, which will service city-owned and contracted vehicles. “We are thrilled to begin working on this project. Our expertise and experience building and servicing CNG stations for many city and county governments allows us to promote environmentally-sound initiatives while lowering our customers’ annual fuel costs,” said J. Alexander, President of Mansfield Energy.

It was achieved with the completion of a filling station in Matthews, Missouri this month, part of its network of liquefied natural gas truck fueling stations to support long-haul, heavy-duty goods movement along major interstate corridors throughout the United States. These facilities are in addition to the ongoing CNG station building planned for the company's traditional markets in transit, refuse, airport/taxi/shuttle and local/regional trucking.

The convenience store chain, which is a subsidiary of Susser Holdings Corporation, announced that it will start offering natural gas fueling at selected Stripes® locations. The first two chosen facilities are located in the Midland, Texas area: one is expected to be operational by the end of November, and the other will open by the end of the year.
