In an effort to cut their carbon footprints, both Dallas/Ft. Worth International and Love Field airports announced separate programs, which went into effect about three years ago, permitting natural gas vehicles to jump to the front of the taxi line. As a result, the shuttle company began converting its 1,400 taxis. Today, it operates 159 units and one town car that are fueled by CNG.

During his address at the National Oil and Gas Forum in Moscow, Viktor Zubkov, Chairman of the Gazprom Board of Directors, said that at the moment Russian industry is facing large-scale tasks, including the Arctic shelf development, the gas industry expansion in Eastern Siberia and the Far East and reinforcing cooperation with Asia-Pacific countries. Moreover, among the most promising lines is wider use of natural gas as fuel transportation.

The roundtable event, which took place earlier this month, was an initiative of the EC Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG Move), organized by NGVA Europe and supported by Gas Natural Fenosa. It includes a proposal for a Directive on the deployment of alternative fuels infrastructure aimed at developing harmonized standards and most importantly setting clear targets for the infrastructure rollout of consolidated alternative fuels, among which CNG and LNG play a pivotal role.

The Honorary Chairman and founder of NGVA Europe, Peter Boisen, passed away last Monday. Even though he was suffering from a severe illness since 2011, he contributed and was deeply involved in the European association activities until the very end. Moreover, he was an active contributor to The GVR magazine, with a monthly column, until the illness prevented him from continuing.

Cabinet member for Industry and Commerce José del Castillo Saviñón this week announced the mark achieved by the NGV local market. The event in which the automobile was delivered was also attended by Salomón Contreras, president of the Pimax workshop where the conversion to CNG was conducted, and the engineer Salvador Rivas, director of Non-Conventional Energy from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

The Executing Agency for CNG Conversion Program (EEC-GNV) is set to achieve 34,080 conversions from gasoline to natural gas this year, including public transport, private, and state-owned fleets. Additionally, they seek to perform 4,460 cylinder upgrading and replacements and also will start a pilot program, initially in Santa Cruz, aimed at changing 400 buses with diesel engines to run on methane.

The total outlay for 70% of the Emmegas shares was 475 thousand Euro and was paid using the Group’s financial funds. The transaction also envisages a put and call option for the remaining 30% shareholder equity, which cannot be executed earlier than the next three years.
