The Paraná government launched the money arrangement aimed at reaching 20,000 cab drivers in all regions of the Brazilian state. The loan of up to R$ 50,000 (about US$ 25,000) will be used to buy a car, to convert a vehicle to compressed natural gas or to adapt a unit carrying passengers with special needs.

The company announced that the engines manufactured by its subsidiary Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Company Limited (GYMCL) have experienced significant demand by municipal bus, tour coach and school bus operators in various Shaanxi municipalities, including Yulin, Baoji, Yan’an, Tongchuan and Hanzhong. GYMCL has also captured a large share of the country’s overall NGV market and its sales for 2012 are expected to increase to 20,000 units compared with the 13,000 units sold in 2011.

Alireza Zeighami, Deputy Minister of Petroleum for Refining and Distribution, made the announcement during an international NGV conference held in Tehran this week. He also said that the CNG supply capacity had risen to 48 Mcm/d of which 20 Mcm/d are used to power vehicles.

Its end products will be hydrogen and synthetic Audi e-gas, to be used as climate-friendly fuel for vehicles such as the new Audi A3 Sportback TCNG. The world’s first industrial plant for generating synthetic methane from CO2 and renewable electricity is under construction in Werlte. It will produce gas that can be fed into the natural-gas network.

According to the document, current global statistics show that compared to the year 2000 the number of NGVs worldwide has risen from 1.2 million to 14 million units, equalling an increase by 1200%. Mainly responsible for this growth is Asia, which has taken over the position as the global leader in the development and application of NGVs from Latin America with Pakistan, Iran, India & China recently showing the most spectacular dynamics.

The developer of the Dual-Fuel™ combustion technology announced that the order is for 30 Renault Magnum compatible Genesis Edge Dual-Fuel™ systems. This is in addition to a previous request for 50 units from Barcelona-based logistics operator announced in April. The product was launched by Clean Air Power earlier this year.

The director of the Transportation Department at the State Government Secretariat, Luis Enrique Moreno Cortés, announced that the intention is to implement an attractive program to execute natural gas conversions. As part of this plan, 600 buses are expected to be removed from operation in order to reduce liquid fuel consumption.

Since 2013 the annual Program for Russian Regions Gasification, regional programs for gas supply and gasification development and synchronization schedules for gasification programs will contain mandatory sections on the natural gas for vehicles use and the appropriate infrastructure development. The sections, in particular, will stipulate obligations of the parties to expand the network of filling stations, to provide land for their construction and to convert vehicles to CNG.
