Bolivia: the first two conversion centers will be set up soon in the city of Potosi
The National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH) announced last Friday that the first two licenses to operate CNG kits installations in this southern city will be granted in a few days, as part of the country’s gasoline to natural gas energy grid change program. Trade director of the ANH Bismark García explained that the authorization allows the customer to have safety guarantees regarding the cylinder and the kit purchased.
"With the two workshops that have passed the technical inspection, it is expected that vehicles will use CNG as fuel to grow at a quick pace in the southern region of the country," the executive said.
The new facilities in Potosi will join the 211 conversion centers authorized by the ANH to operate, which are located in the following places: Cochabamba (51), Chuquisaca (5), La Paz (56), Oruro (9), Santa Cruz (49) and Sucre (41).
The CNG system enables users to save 65% in fuel consumption in comparison with gasoline-powered vehicles and up to 50% compared to diesel ones.
Late last year, YPFB began selling compressed natural gas in the city when the state-owned company opened the
first CNG refueling station there.
