The current pace of conversion business is one of the fastest in NGV history in the country, only surpassed by 2003 results, when the CNG kit installations reached over 23,000 vehicles per month.
Not only that but also the growth in conversions to natural gas is very noticeable in comparison with last year. During the first half of 2014, 107,491 vehicles were retrofitted, almost 50% more than in the same period of 2013.
The big leap in the number of conversions this year was made between March and April moving from 15,734 vehicles to 20,343 in a month, representing an increase of 30%. The highest figure of conversions was achieved in May, with 21,610 cars switched to CNG, a number reminiscent of the two most successful years in history for the local industry, i.e. 2003-2004.
Month by month, these are the numbers of conversions in Argentina in 2014 so far: 16,042 in January, 14,573 in February, 15,734 in March, 20,343 in April, 21,610 in May, 19,189 in June, 21,185 in July. Over the seven months, 128,676 vehicles were retrofitted with CNG system, not so far from the 160,000 conversions achieved throughout 2013. As a result, it is expected that the 2014 annual result will far exceed last year’s figure.
