The local legislative body yesterday passed the ordinance that modifies Article 257 of Ordinance No. 13254 Tax Code and its amending text No. 13548 which allows tax relief for a period of five years for those who acquire brand new vehicles through the National Plan ‘ProCreAuto’ and also incorporate a compressed natural gas system into the unit.
Councilor Gastón Galíndez, author of the legislative initiative, said “this national plan is welcomed to boost economy activity and will revive the automotive industry.”
Due to this ordinance, individuals that purchase of a brand new vehicle through the National Plan ProCreAuto (personal loan granted through the National Bank for the purchase of cars and pickups) and install CNG system into that unit will get reductions in payments of the automotive register tax for a period of five years.
The scale of tax relief is as follows: in the first year a 100% reduction; in the second 80%, in the third 60%, in the fourth 40% and, finally, in the fifth year, the reduction is 20%.
Galíndez and other councilors involved in the motion also noted that vehicles fueled by compressed natural gas are seven times less pollutant than those powered by traditional gasoline, so it is good to encourage its use.
