According to TMB’s calculations, published by EFE agency, the replacement of existing diesel buses by NGVs would represent the reduction of 90 percent of nitrogen oxide emissions, almost 100 percent of particles and 20 percent carbon monoxide.
At the same time, the Spanish Environmental Office is carrying out a research to control pollution in large cities, mostly Madrid and Barcelona.
Meanwhile, the Spanish capital city public transportation company has already committed to purchase 165 clean units to renew its fleet this year; 142 of them will be powered by compressed natural gas and 23 will be CNG-electric hybrids.
