Canada-based Xebec has signed an exclusive three-year agreement with SAPIO Produzione Idrogeno Ossigeno Srl, distributor of technical gases, to help develop Italy’s renewable natural gas (RNG) upgrading infrastructure from biogas facilities such as landfills, digesters and waste water treatment plants. Italy has made an extraordinary commitment in its 2020 national plan to increasing energy efficiency and reducing energy consumption as part of the European Renewable Energy Directive (RED) target.
Xebec will be responsible for designing, building, installing and servicing SAPIO’s biogas upgrading projects, from landfills, agri-waste and dairy digesters, and waste water treatment facilities, using Xebec’s adsorption technology solution. This partnership agreement with SAPIO is a reflection of the success Xebec has already experienced in France where it is now the leading supplier of Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) systems.
“We’re thrilled at the recognition and interest we are receiving from potential customers, partners and suppliers. Although we have been involved globally in renewable natural gas projects for over a decade, it is just within the last few years that RNG has become recognized as a viable, ultra-clean, ultra-low carbon natural gas alternative. Our building order book and partnerships are clear indicators that we are in the right space in the right time,” said Prabhu Rao, Chief Operating Officer, Xebec Adsorption Inc.
“SAPIO, like many corporations and countries around the world, is committed to the energy efficiency target, providing cost-effective, sustainable solutions through increased development, deployment and utilization of renewable natural gas so that present and future generations will have access to this domestic, renewable, clean fuel and energy supply,” added Andrea Dossi, Group Vice President, Sapio Produzione Idrogeno Ossigeno Srl.
