The conversions carried out during 2012 represent the 44.5% of 2012’s target, i.e. 34,080 vehicles switched to CNG by the end of the year in the departments mentioned above.
Until mid-May, 7,500 vehicles had been converted to the system, but the statistics recently updated doubled that amount, indicating acceleration in the activities at conversion centers over the last three months. As part of the NGV domestic market expansion, it is important to mention that the two licenses to operate the city of Potosi’s first CNG conversion centers have been already granted.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energy, to be eligible to access the free conversion program, public transport drivers must submit different documents to the Drivers Federation they are affiliated to, such as an ID card photocopy, a photocopy of Ruat (tax administration registration) and the water or electricity bill, all to be subsequently handed in at the EEC-CNG headquarters for approval.
