According to NGV conversion figures by country’s departments, Santa Cruz ranks first, while La Paz and Cochabamba rank second and third, respectively. “The natural gas is not only environmentally friendly but also extends engine’s life lifespan since it contains no carbon monoxide and burns cleanly, without leaving any residue on the engine parts,” the agency states in a press release, as published by Cambio.
The program being conducted by the EEC-GNV is expected to achieve a monthly target of 2,840 vehicles converted for this year. Regionally, the three major cities with higher prospects of natural gas conversions are La Paz, Santa Cruz and Cochabamba with a total estimation of 10,644, 10,056 and 5,652 retrofits, respectively.
Regarding the CNG Cylinders Upgrading and Replacement Fund, the EEC-GNV has conversion centers in La Paz and Cochabamba. This particular program started operations in Tarija on June 18.
