“We have in Bolivia more than 1.2 million vehicles, including state-owned ones, 79% of which uses gasoline. If only official fleet was converted to CNG, there would be significant savings for the country,” Ortega said, according to Página Siete.
The bill states that the change of the vehicle fuel consumption must be made from January 1st to December 31st, 2012. For financing the conversion process, it is proposed to take advantage of part of the budget annually allocated for public agencies to buy gasoline.
The Politian argued that the initiative not only will enable the State to make huge savings but also will help to protect the environment.
Meanwhile, Bolivia continues with the execution of the NGV national program. Recently, the nation put out to tender the acquisition of 10,000 CNG kits, while the expansion of its refueling network continues.
