The NGV conversion plan gathers 220 workshops throughout the country approved by the National Hydrocarbons Agency. The investment allocated for the 2012 conversion of 3,000 vehicles is USD 2,250,000. The Deputy Minister Álvaro Arnez explained that there is enough natural gas to meet this new demand. Meanwhile, Hernán Vega added that the agency is working with the state-owned and run petrol company YPFB to increase the number of CNG refueling stations in the city of La Paz.
“For next year, we will increase the quota of conversions for private vehicles to 15,000 units during 2013 and, in subsequent years, to 35,000 throughout the six provinces where the ECC-GNV operates,” Vega concluded.
