Carlos Villegas, president of Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB), the state-owned petrol company of Bolivia, announced that the goal of the country is to convert 80,000 vehicles per year. Thus, 240,000 NGVs will be running on the Bolivian roads in three years’ time. The aim is to reach one million natural gas powered vehicles by 2015.
Villegas added YPFB will design a CNG network to supply the routes that connect the backbone of the country. The first phase will begin in La Paz-Oruro; La Paz-Caracollo-Cochabamba-Santa Cruz; Sucre-Potosí; Santa Cruz-Puerto Suarez and Santa Cruz-Yacuiba.
