By using this natural gas driven truck, Jamef intends to cut vehicle maintenance costs, according to Monitor Mercantil website. Both Jamef and Comgás explain that the use of alternative fuels -and particularly CNG- significantly reduces emissions of pollutant gases released to the atmosphere and noise levels.
“This initiative is related to Jamef’s values, and the company commits itself to providing first-rate service and is always looking for solutions in the transportation field through the sustainable use of natural resources, in order to contribute to the quality of life and the environment protection,” stated Adriano Depentor, Jamef executive director.
On the other hand, Comgás NGV manager Richard Jardin said: “The aim is to test the technical and economical feasibility of a vehicle fuelled by 100% natural gas, which is operating in a city like São Paulo. We are very confident of the results: our goal is to reduce from 20 to 30 per cent the unit’s operational costs.”
