President of the CAGNC Fausto Maranca welcomed the encouraging figures and said that those numbers were provided by the Argentine Chamber for Gas Equipment Producers (CAPEC). “We were informed that many new cars are being converted to CNG with great success all over the country,” he said.
Moreover, Maranca remarked that the situation that favors the use of natural gas for vehicles in Argentina is due to several factors, including current prices of CNG, lower than other fuels; safety in the future availability of domestic gas; proven technology solutions for the replacement of diesel fuel; and reducing pollution.
In Argentina, about 2,056,521 vehicles have been converted to natural gas (until November 2011), which can refuel at 1,092 filling stations across the country. It also exports its technology to more than 50 countries.
