Through Cofigas program, the Peruvian Development Finance Corporation (COFIDE) gave the green light to the financing, which will benefit three of the companies that form Consorcio del Norte: Nuevo California, El Cortijo and Esperanza Express. These firms previously agreed on the signing of the contract with Pegaco, which represents King Long brand in the country, to purchase the buses.
“A delegation of businessmen from Trujillo and I will be traveling to China in order to verify the buses manufacturing process, which includes the first batch of 137 buses to be acquired,” said Víctor Hugo Del Carpio Sedano, Manager of Transport, Traffic and Road Safety of the Provincial Municipality of Trujillo. The trip is scheduled for the first week of September.
The CNG-powered bus model is YC4G 180N-40V and features inline four-cylinder, water cooled, turbocharged engine, and complies with the Euro IV emission standard.
“The transaction is valued at approximately US$ 10 million and the purchase will be financed in five years,” explained Del Carpio Sedano, who also informed that 67 buses will be acquired by Nuevo California, 35 by El Cortijo and 35 by Esperanza Express.
