“Updating the management model aims at environmental protection, building sustainable territories, providing an efficient service and the user satisfaction, through the commitment of employees and contractors,” said EPM CEO, Juan Esteban Calle Restrepo, who presented the new sustainability strategy with Emvarias CEO, Ignacio Javier Hurtado Hurtado.
Regarding the renewal of Emvarias compactor trucks, a financial and operational analysis made by the current administration of the public utility and a technical team of EPM led the Board to approve the leasing of NGVs with purchase option, “a more agile way of replacing the fleet every seven years,” said Hurtado Hurtado
The analysis reports that, from a technical and environmental perspective, vehicles running on natural gas are the most recommended to renew Emvarias fleet of solid waste collection trucks. It is also important to note that Colombia achieved the approval and release for the manufacturing of gas-powered refuse trucks.
