According to the vice president of supply and marketing of the company Sérgio Silva, it is expected that with the natural gas purchased at Petrobras auctions, part of the volume will be directed to the automotive industry with more attractive prices for the users of the gaseous fuel. “It still depends on the measure, which is under evaluation by ARSESP, but there are chances it comes into effect between August and September of this year,” he added.
In order to expand its distribution network for CNG, in the first half of the year the company’s network was increased by more than 300 km, totalling in the last 12 months 582 km. The investments in this period reached R$ 169 million, while the network has now reached the milestone of 6.5 thousand km. The main systems under construction are in the cities of Mogi das Cruzes, São Bernardo, Alphaville and Guarulhos.
Currently, Comgás provides an average of 883,0 m³/day of natural gas, and has 375 facilities supplying fuel. With the expansion of its network, the trend is that more CNG stations will be constructed, thus increasing the consumption of methane.
