The new CNG fleet includes twelve vans and three heavy duty vehicles, and will be easily recognized as they will carry a sign saying “Je livre au gaz naturel” (I deliver on natural gas), reported Stratégies Logistique. The fuel will be supplied by GNVert, subsidiary of GDF Suez.
“As a distributor, we prove our determination to participate in the emergence of new ways of delivery,” said Daniel Dendievel, logistics manager of Lyreco. In the long term, the French company also plans to support the development of CNG filling stations as there are only 30 public-access fueling points in the country.
According to Lyreco, electric vehicles will be tested by delivering only in Paris central districts as they are “still in their infancy and have a range too limited to be used in large shipments.” Therefore, the group’s main investments lean on NGVs because they are “quieter vehicles with less vibration, reduced noise pollution and more comfortable ride for drivers.”
