As a result of the increase in international fuel prices, the leader said he instructed the ministries of Industry and Trade and Environment to provide facilities for issuing licenses that enable the installation of proper facilities to offer the fuel, complying with the Incentives for Renewable Energy law, among other measures.
“The objective is that we establish at least four major corridors with natural gas fuelling stations from Santo Domingo city to different country’s regions, and consequently comply with decree 264 of 22 May 2007, by which we declared the use of natural gas as a national priority in the Dominican Republic,” Fernandez said on a nationwide government broadcast.
He added that these proposals have been endorsed by several carriers unions that have requested the Government to modernize transportation fleet or finance the equipment required to convert vehicles to natural gas.
