“We are pleased with the work the Ministry has done so far to spread the benefits of NGVs, particularly we applaud Minister García Arévalo efforts to promote them, since Dominican Republic has positioned itself as one of the countries where the introduction of the system has been very well received,” said Salvador Rivas, director of the above mentioned Directorate, when certifying the CNG equipment installed in a 2012 Ford Escape, which is the 6,000 vehicle converted to the system, El Día reported.
The event was also attended by representatives of both the CNG kits distribution companies and the Non-Conventional Energy Directorate, and also by the general public interested in learning more about natural gas vehicles.
It is important to remember that last March, the country had reached the 4000th CNG conversion and, as a result, there has been an increase of 50 percent in the number of natural gas vehicles operative in the country in just two months.
