Acofave president Enrique Fernandez said that only two members of the association have introduced natural gas vehicles in the emergent Dominican market. On the one hand, Peravia Motors is offering 200 yellow cabs but the idea is to extend the range with units of other colours for private customers, the news site Listín Diario reported yesterday.
On the other hand, the firm Empresas Dominicanas sells Italian or Brazilian manufactured Fiat vans.
The Dominican Republic NGV market is continually being encouraged and more initiatives join the national government program, which aims to convert public transport fleets to compressed natural gas. Moreover, while there are big plans to install a wide CNG refuelling network across the country, the first natural gas operated truck has been recently unveiled with positive results.
