“NGVs deliver significant economic and environmental benefits over petrol or diesel and are a market-proven technology,” highlighted Barry. He stated that CNG, and further renewable gas, can reduce fuel costs by up to 60% for Irish fleet transport businesses while also generates significantly lower emissions than conventionally-powered vehicles.
Manuel Lage, General Manager of the NGVA Europe, attended the conference and gave his opinion: “The quickest and most effective way to introduce CNG in Ireland is in urban fleets, such as buses and garbage collection trucks in first place, and then other delivery vans and trucks. These types of vehicles are typically part of large fleets and as a consequence the need for CNG refueling points is limited to their own depots.”
During this event, Fiat Ireland is showcasing two of its latest-generation Natural Power models –Doblò Cargo and Doblò Passenger- for display and test drive, which are expected to stimulate the interest of natural gas vehicles in this country.
