Finland-based importer and seller of natural gas Gasum began the supply of biomethane at its filling stations in October 2011. “We wish to be involved in all aspects of the country’s new ecological traffic from product deliveries to private cars and public transport to government vehicles. Therefore we were happy to grab this opportunity to support the Police with a donation,” said Björn Ahlnäs, Gasum vice president.
The warning beacons of the new biogas-fuelled traffic patrol car operate on LED technology and the speed recognition device measures vehicle speed at the front and the rear. In addition to traffic enforcement equipment, the car is also equipped with the police field command system.
The Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications is currently preparing a legislative amendment concerning the selection methods employed in the procurement of public transport and government agency vehicles, with stricter environmental requirements to be taken into consideration in the future.
