Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee Alexey Miller and CEO of Comita Danilo Durakovic addressed the issues of cooperation within the South Stream project. In particular, they paid attention to the possibility of setting up a joint venture aimed at comprehensively developing the natural gas vehicle sector in the project countries. Comita develops technologies in the areas of automation, communications and power generation.
The meeting, which took place at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2014, also focused on the possibility for the Slovenian company to render engineering communications and automation services to the Power of Siberia project, which is a gas transmission system (GTS) providing for the ‘blue fuel’ supplies from the Yakutia and Irkutsk gas production centers to the Russian Far East and to China.
Moreover, Deputy Chairmen of the Gazprom Management Committee Vitaly Markelov and Alexander Medvedev met with Vice-Chairman and Deputy CEO of GDF Suez Jean-Francois Cirelli to discuss the current issues of Russian natural gas supply to Europe, particularly addressing the Nord Stream project and its possible expansion.
The meeting participants yet again recognized the significance of gas as an eco-friendly fuel within the European energy mix. In this context, special stress was laid on the importance of advancing such a sector as NGV.
